Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Unveiled, BE 6 SporteQ Launched: Price, Features and Launch Details

Mahindra & Mahindra used its Independence Day showcase to introduce two very different products from its SUV portfolio. The company unveiled the new Scorpio Lifestyler, a lifestyle pickup that is expected to go on sale in India in April 2027, while also launching the updated BE 6 SporteQ electric SUV.The Scorpio Lifestyler is aimed at the growing lifestyle pickup segment and will take on models such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. The BE 6 SporteQ, meanwhile, brings a major equipment and technology update to Mahindra’s electric SUV range, including a new triple-screen cabin, additional battery choice and Google Gemini-powered voice features.Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler: What We KnowThe Scorpio Lifestyler is based on the same ladder-frame platform as the Scorpio-N and takes its design cues from Mahindra’s Global Pik Up concept shown in 2023.It gets a dual-cab layout with a separate cargo bed at the rear. The design retains the upright and muscular appearance associated with the Scorpio name, while the pickup body gives it a different purpose from the Scorpio-N SUV.Mahindra has positioned the Lifestyler as a global product rather than a model developed only for India. In international markets, it will be sold simply as the Lifestyler. The company has announced an entry-level price of below ₹19.79 lakh, ex-showroom, although the final variant-wise pricing will be announced closer to its market launch. The India launch is scheduled for April 2027.The pickup will be available in three special editions called Valley, Reef and Trail. These versions use different colour themes inspired by mountains, the sea and desert landscapes.Mahindra is also looking beyond India for the Lifestyler. The company has indicated plans to export the pickup to markets including South Africa, Australia, West Asia and Latin America, while also exploring opportunities in ASEAN markets.Scorpio Lifestyler vs Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-CrossThe Lifestyler will enter a relatively small but established lifestyle pickup market in India. Its most direct rivals will be the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.The segment is different from conventional commercial pickups. These vehicles are designed to combine the practicality of a pickup bed with the comfort and styling expected from a premium personal vehicle. That positioning is important for Mahindra because the company already has a strong SUV presence in India. The Scorpio name also gives the new pickup an established identity, although the Lifestyler will have to prove itself against products that have already built a presence in the lifestyle pickup space.More details about the engine, transmission, dimensions, payload and variant-wise equipment are expected to be announced closer to its launch.Mahindra BE 6 SporteQ LaunchedAlongside the Scorpio Lifestyler, Mahindra launched the BE 6 SporteQ, an updated version of its electric SUV.Pic: Mahindra AutomotiveThe BE 6 SporteQ starts at ₹19.45 lakh, ex-showroom, while the price with Mahindra’s Battery-as-a-Service model starts at ₹11.45 lakh, with a battery usage charge of ₹3.75 per kilometre. The top variant is priced at ₹26.95 lakh. The biggest changes are inside the cabin. Mahindra has replaced the earlier dashboard arrangement with a three-screen setup, using three 12.3-inch displays across the dashboard. The layout gives the driver, central infotainment system and front passenger separate screens. The cabin is offered with a Racing Tan interior, while the exterior is available in Graphite Storm. Mahindra has also added features such as a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and a more practical centre console.New Battery Option and RangeThe BE 6 SporteQ is available with 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh battery options. The new 70kWh pack sits between the two existing battery choices and is claimed to offer a range of up to 683km, depending on the variant and testing conditions. The range and battery options give buyers more choice than the earlier BE 6 lineup. Mahindra is also offering a special Formula E Freedom Edition, which comes with the 79kWh battery and a more performance-focused design.Google Gemini Comes to the BE 6 SporteQTechnology is one of the main areas where Mahindra has expanded the SporteQ.The SUV gets TEQ_Talk, a voice-based system powered by Google Gemini. It can be used for functions such as navigation, music and selected vehicle controls through voice commands.Mahindra has also added features including in-car gaming, karaoke, personalised tailgate messages and expanded digital-key functionality. The SporteQ also gets additional drive modes, including a Drift Mode. The company has confirmed that some of the new software features introduced with the SporteQ will also be made available to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through software updates from January 2027.Two Different Products, One Mahindra StrategyThe Scorpio Lifestyler and BE 6 SporteQ target completely different buyers. The Lifestyler is Mahindra’s attempt to build a stronger presence in the lifestyle pickup segment and use the Scorpio brand in a new body style. Its international positioning is equally important, with exports expected to form part of the model’s business plan. The BE 6 SporteQ takes the existing electric SUV in a different direction, focusing heavily on technology, connected features and cabin experience while adding another battery option. The two launches also show the different directions in which Mahindra is expanding its SUV portfolio. The company is continuing with its traditional body-on-frame products while simultaneously adding more technology-focused electric models. For buyers, the Scorpio Lifestyler will be a product to watch until its April 2027 launch, while the BE 6 SporteQ is already available to customers. The latter’s combination of a new cabin, additional battery option, connected technology and BaaS pricing makes it one of the more substantial updates to Mahindra’s electric SUV range since the BE 6 was introduced.Video: Mahindra AutomotiveVideo: Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ
